Creation of everyday objects to illustrate Hugo Loi Phd Thesis work, EPI Maverick

On the 16th of  decembre 2015, 10AM in the Amphi Inria, Hugo Loi will defend his Phd Thesis, a programmable method to design 2D arrangements of small geometrical elements to obtain textures, widely used in most of CAD applications. The approach targets technical artists who will create textures thanks to scripts, based on partition operators  (large scale arrangement), mapping operators (control of the elements local organisation) and merging operators (mix of different arrangements).

To show the potential of this method, generated textures were used to make several everyday objects thanks to the A4H laser cutter:

Result_BubbleFurniture

From random bubbles texture to furniture

Result_CellsRandomLampBig

From random irregular cells texture to trimmed lampshade
